Dec 28, Kathmandu - A free multi-specialty health camp was held in the historic Basantapur Durbar area on Saturday from 9 am to 1 pm. The camp, organized with the aim of making health services accessible to the general public, was organized by Dr. Sameem Akhtar.
The key specialists providing consultation services at the camp included Consultant Medical Oncologist Dr. Samim Akhtar, Consultant Orthodontist Dr. Harsh Kumar Tiwari, Orthopedic Surgeon and Pain Management Specialist Dr. Santosh Kumar Basyal, Hepatobiliary and Liver Transplant Surgeon Dr. Akanand Singh, General Physician Dr. Roop Narayan Shah, and Medical Officer Dr. Shrinkhala Shrestha.
The health camp provided dental check-ups, orthopedic problems, cancer screening, general health check-ups and counseling services. In addition, a blood donation program was also conducted in the camp.
According to the organizers, the camp was completely free and 50 percent discount was arranged on some services. Due to this, there was a significant participation of the general public. Participants said that the camp was benifical, especially for those who cannot get regular health check-ups due to financial constraints.
Organizer Dr. Akhtar expressed his commitment to continue organizing such socially responsible health camps in the future. Locals say that such camps, organized with the aim of increasing health awareness among the general public, have had a positive impact at the community level.
