Speaker of the HoR, Devaraj Ghimire, and Deputy Speaker Indira Rana to Conclude Their Terms Today

Dec 28, Kathmandu - House of Representatives Speaker Devraj Ghimire and Deputy Speaker Indira Rana are set to leave today after completing their terms. According to Ghimire's media expert Shekhar Adhikari, he is also preparing to leave the official residence.

Ghimire said that he is leaving without making a public announcement as the issue of parliament restoration has reached the court and he will have to answer about it.

"He is leaving without making a public announcement, realizing that it will be procedurally inconvenient since the issue of restoration has reached the court and the relevant sector will have to answer about it," he said. "He will not be going to the office from today. He is preparing to move, and has already found a place to stay."

The constitution states that the Speaker and Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives who are in office when the House of Representatives is dissolved will remain in office until the day before they file their candidacies for the next election to the House of Representatives.

The House of Representatives election is being held on Falgun 21. For this, the closed list of candidates for the proportional representation is being submitted to the commission today and tomorrow.

Accordingly, the term of the Speaker and Deputy Speaker has ended at 12 midnight today.
