China Launches New Satellite 'Fengyun-4 03' Into Space

Dec 28, Kathmandu - China launched a new satellite into space from the Xichang Satellite Launch Center in the country's southwestern Sichuan province on Saturday.

The satellite, named 'Fengyun-4-03', was launched by a 'Long March-3B' rocket at 12:07 a.m. (Beijing time). After the launch, the satellite was reported to have successfully entered its designated orbit.

‘Fengyun-4-03’ is a weather observation satellite developed by China, which supports tasks such as weather forecasting, climate monitoring, early warning of natural disasters and environmental observation. The satellite is equipped with advanced instruments, which enable detailed and continuous monitoring of clouds, precipitation, storms, temperature and atmospheric activity. The data obtained from it is expected to make important contributions to public safety, agriculture, aviation, water resources management and emergency management.

Chinese officials have said that this launch is the 621st flight of the 'Long March' rocket series.
