RSP Meeting Lasted 20 Minutes, Closing List Yet To Be Finalized

Dec 29, Kathmandu - The Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) held a meeting today to finalize its proportional representation (PR) candidate list but ended without any conclusion. The party is set to hold further discussions with Ujyalo Nepal today, which prevented a definitive decision.

Sources indicate that the meeting lasted approximately 30 minutes. During the discussion, there was a general talk about including Kulman Ghising in the list.

"Last-minute efforts were made to include him, but we couldn't finalize the list," a source stated. "The final decision depends on today's negotiations, and the list may be adjusted accordingly."

The party has already conducted primary elections for the PR candidates, with results accounting for 50% of the selection process, while the remaining 50% is based on other evaluations. However, with Balen seeking unity, those elected through primary elections are under pressure to vacate their spots.

Party insiders revealed that no specific number of seats—particularly how many will be allocated to Balen—has been decided yet.

"It's about accommodating capable candidates; discussions on the exact numbers haven't taken place," the source added.

Balen is currently preparing a list to include in the PR segment. He has not yet submitted his list to the party. If an agreement is reached with Kulman Ghising, clusters will need to be adjusted, potentially creating more vacancies. Despite contesting the primaries, some within the party are experiencing dissatisfaction and confusion over the inclusion of candidates from other groups, especially given the lack of competition in some cases.
