Dec 30, Kathmandu - Prime Minister Sushila Karki has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of Begum Khaleda Zia, the first female Prime Minister of Bangladesh and Chairperson of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP).

Releasing a condolence statement on social media on Tuesday, Prime Minister Karki expressed heartfelt condolences on behalf of the Government of Nepal and the Nepali people to Khaleda Zia's family, relatives, and the people of Bangladesh.

Prime Minister Karki said that Zia had made significant contributions to public service throughout her life and that her leadership had established her as a historic chapter in Bangladesh's democratic journey.

Similarly, Prime Minister Karki said that Nepal would always remember her for the role she played in strengthening Nepal-Bangladesh relations.
