UML and Congress should fight together in the upcoming elections: Ram Bahadur Thapa

Dec 30, Kathmandu - CPN (UML) Vice-Chairman Ram Bahadur Thapa ‘Badal’ has said that UML and Congress should contest the elections together.

Speaking at the ‘Message of the UML General Convention and Political Exit Thought Symposium’ program organized by the Madan Ashrit Memorial Foundation on Tuesday, Vice-Chairman Thapa said that UML and Congress should contest the upcoming House of Representatives elections to be held on Falgun 21.

He mentioned that when democracy in the country is in danger, the UML will fight under the leadership of the left and the Congress will fight under the leadership of the democrats, and said, "Even in the current difficult situation, the two forces should make a strategy. If elections are held, the leftist forces and the democrats should defeat the 'deep state' supporters in the new parliament."

Thapa opened the option of establishing the dominance of the leftists and democrats in the new parliament or restoring the old parliament where the two forces were dominant and establishing democracy again.

He suggested that a front should be formed in all 165 constituencies to restore democracy. He said, "Let's make a strategy that the leftists will win half of the elections and the democrats will win half of the elections."
