Dec 30, Kathmandu - Nepal Telecom has expanded towers in remote areas of Karnali Province with the aim of strengthening the telephone network in rural areas and providing communication services to remote settlements.
Nepal Telecom Branch Office Jumla has expanded 86 towers in Kalikot and Mugu, including Jumla, which fall under the jurisdiction of Nepal Telecom Branch Office Jumla, informed Paras Pujara, Chief of Nepal Telecom Branch Office Jumla.
22 towers have been expanded in Kalikot, 19 in Mugu and 45 in Jumla. Office Chief Pujara said, “A Nepal Telecom tower has been constructed and made operational in Hima Rural Municipality of Jumla. The locals here were deprived of telephone service due to the lack of construction of a telephone tower for a long time.”
Hima Rural Municipality Chairman Laxman Bahadur Shahi said that the construction of the tower has been completed and telephone and 4G internet services have been operational since Monday.
Telecom’s fiber internet service has currently been extended only to the district headquarters Khalanga. The Telecom Branch Office stated that work is underway to extend it to all eight local levels of the district.
According to Nepal Telecom's Karnali Provincial Directorate, Surkhet, communication services have been expanded to 37 local levels in Karnali so far.
