Man Died in Sunsari After Being Shot by the Armed Police Force

Jan 01, Kathmandu - Frustrated locals have blocked the East-West Highway after a person was shot dead by the Armed Police Force in Sunsari. Protesters have also set fire to a temporary shelter of the Armed Police Force.

The incident took place at around 1 am on Thursday in Koshi Rural Municipality-1 of Sunsari. The District Police Office, Sunsari, has said that 45-year-old Bijay Sah, a local, died after being shot by a team of the Armed Police Force deployed to control smuggling.

According to the police, Sah was returning to Nepal from India with sugar, surf and tobacco among other items. It is said that when the Armed Police Force tried to stop him when he reached his house, he was shot. Sah was reportedly shot twice and died while being taken to the hospital in serious condition.
