Anshu Gautam murder case: Accused Padam Bahadur Adhikari sent to jail for trial

Jan 02, Kathmandu - The District Court, Morang, has ordered the remand of Padam Bahadur Adhikari, the main accused in the murder of 13-year-old Anshu Gautam of Phadani, Letang Municipality-2, Morang, to prison for trial.

After a closed-door hearing on Thursday on the charge of brutal murder after attempting to rape her, the bench of District Judge Tanka Bahadur Mahat ordered the accused to be sent to prison for trial.

The District Court, Morang, has stated that Adhikari has been sent to the Morang District Jail after being ordered to remain in custody until the final verdict of the case.

The body of Anshu, who went missing on Ashwin 21, was found in the forest on Kartik 7 with her head mutilated. The police had arrested Padam Bahadur on Mangsir 8 on charges of Anshu's murder.

On Mangsir 21, the police made Adhikari public through Operation JAG (Justice for Anshu Gautam) with the conclusion that she was raped and brutally murdered. During his statement, he admitted to committing the murder after the rape attempt failed.
