6.5 Magnitude Earthquake Jolts Mexico

Jan 03, Kathmandu - A 6.5-magnitude earthquake struck southern and central Mexico on Friday, killing at least two people.

The US broadcaster CBS reported that two people had died and 12 were injured as of Friday evening.

The epicenter of the quake was near the popular tourist town of Acapulco, near San Marcos in the southwestern state of Guerrero.

Guerrero Governor Evelyn Salgado said a 50-year-old woman had died. Mexico City Mayor Clara Brugada confirmed the death of a 60-year-old man. She said 12 people were injured.
