Indo-Nepal Media Cup Football from Paush 27

Jan 03, Kathmandu - The 'Indo-Nepal Mechinagar Media Cup' football tournament is being organized in Jhapa with the aim of promoting tourism and increasing brotherhood between journalists from the two countries.

The competition is being organized by the Press Club Mechinagar, an umbrella organization for journalists living on the eastern border, on Paush 27 and 28.

The competition, which will involve the participation of eight journalist-related organizations, two from India and six from Nepal, will be held at the playground of Kakarvitta School, said Prakash Poudel, chairman of the organization.

According to him, two teams from India, Siliguri Journalists Club and Terai Press Club Darjeeling, will participate in the competition, while six teams from Nepal, Bhadrapur Press Club, Arjundhara Press Club, Buddhashanti Press Club, Damak Journalists' Forum, Kankai Press Club and the organizers, will participate.

According to the organizers, the winner of the competition will receive a cash prize of 50,000. Similarly, the runner-up will receive 25,000.

The organizers have also informed that the best player, top scorer, best goalkeeper, etc. will be awarded with cash prizes throughout the tournament.

Chairman Poudel said that the main objective of organizing the competition is to establish brotherhood between the two countries through sports and to promote Nepal's tourism sector to the maximum.

The estimated cost of conducting the competition is around 800,000 rupees. He said that cooperation has been sought from the local government and organizations active in this field to manage the expenses.
