Jan 05, Kathmandu - The Nepali Congress has asked for 8 seats from other parties to coordinate in the National Assembly scheduled for Magh 11. The Congress has asked for 8 seats in the election to be held for 18 seats.
Acting President Purna Bahadur Khadka has briefed the meeting held at the party's central office in Sanepa about the discussions with other parties on the issue of coordination.
Khadka briefed the meeting on the election preparations and the status of the alliance, said Sujata Koirala, a member of the performance committee. Speaking to media persons after the meeting, Koirala said that Acting President Khadka had informed the meeting that the Congress had submitted a claim for 8 seats on its behalf for coordination.
Speaking to media persons about the briefing given by Acting President Khadka in the meeting, Koirala said, "There is a certainty of an alliance in the National Assembly elections. The Acting President has stated in the briefing meeting that the Congress has claimed 8 seats on behalf of the alliance."
Talks are underway for an alliance between the Congress, CPN-UML, Nepali Communist Party and Janata Samajwadi Party Nepal in the National Assembly elections. Khadka and leader Ramesh Lekhak from the Congress are holding discussions with other parties. Although an agreement in principle has been reached on the issue of alliance between the parties, the issue of how many seats each party will win has not been finalized.
