Secret Revelations: UML Secretary Mahesh Basnet Discloses Key Points of KP Oli’s Statement to Investigation Panel

Jan 06, Kathmandu - Mahesh Basnet, Secretary of the CPN-UML, has publicly shared the main points of the statement given by party Chairman KP Sharma Oli to the investigation commission probing the incidents of Bhadra 23 and 24.

Oli provided his statement to the inquiry panel on Sunday, with officials visiting his residence in Gupteshwor, Pokhara, to record his testimony.

Basnet revealed six key points from Oli's response, which he shared via social media, shedding light on the party leader’s stance regarding the investigation.

First: On the evening of 22 Bhadra, a meeting of the National Security Council discussed the issue of peaceful protests, non-use of force, and support for youth and students.

Second: The youth involved in the movement have already admitted that there was infiltration and anarchic groups entering the movement.

Third: The photos and videos from the time clearly show that most of the people protesting were not from the Genji generation.

Fourth: After the vandalism and sudden shooting on 23 Bhadra, a decision was made to form an investigation committee after discussing with all security chiefs, including the Home Minister.

Fifth: Although the Nepal Army should have been mobilized to control the situation on 24 Bhadra, it was not possible.

Sixth: Since Gauri Bahadur Karki had already made his views public on social media on the day of the incident and even before and after, there is doubt about the impartiality of the report.
