Jan 08, Kathmandu - The United States is withdrawing from 66 international organizations, including the United Nations Population Fund and the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC).
President Donald Trump signed an order on Wednesday to end funding and support for these organizations, agencies and commissions.
The decision was made after reviewing the United States' investment and support in UN-affiliated organizations and various other organizations, the White House said.
The cuts include UN-related agencies, commissions and advisory committees on climate, labor, migration and other issues.
The cuts include the Partnership for Atlantic Cooperation, the International Institute for Democracy and Voting Support, and the Global Counterterrorism Forum.
The United States has already stopped funding and support for organizations such as the World Health Organization, the United Nations Agency for Palestinian Refugees (UNRWA), the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, and the United Nations Cultural Organization (UNESCO).
Since Trump was elected for a second term, he has said he will only support institutions that align with his agenda.
