Jan 08, Kathmandu - Police arrested a fugitive defendant in a drug case from Kerabari, Morang, on Wednesday after 7 years.

Police arrested 35-year-old Sujan Rana Magar, a resident of Kerabari Rural Municipality-7, from his home at around 2:30 pm. A team led by Inspector Rajiv Giri of the Area Police Office, Belbari, had reached his home to arrest him.

The District Court, Morang, sentenced the absconding defendant Rana Magar to 1 year, 9 months and 17 days in prison and a fine of Rs. 100,000 on Ashwin 17, 2075 in a drug case. Despite the court's decision to sentence him to imprisonment and a fine, he had been absconding for a long time without serving his sentence.

The police have succeeded in arresting Rana Magar, who was on the police's wanted list, seven years after he was found guilty by the court. After the police produced him, the court sent him to prison to serve his prison sentence.
