Jan 08, Kathmandu - A complex surgery called Reverse Ankle Arthroplasty, considered the most complex in orthopedic surgery, has been successfully completed at Om Hospital and Research Center Pvt. Ltd. in Chabahil.
81-year-old Sabitri Shrestha, a resident of Bhadrapur in Jhapa district, suffered a serious injury after falling and suffered a complex fracture of her ankle. To treat the problem, a team of doctors led by senior orthopedic specialist and joint replacement surgeon Prof. Dr. Nabisman Singh Pradhan successfully completed the surgery using the Reverse Ankle Arthroplasty method.
The surgical team included Prof. Dr. Pradhan along with orthopedic surgeons Dr. Bidur Gyawali and Dr. Susan Vaidya. Similarly, the anesthesia team included senior consultant anesthesiologists Prof. Dr. Shyam Maharjan and Dr. Asmita Maharjan.
According to a statement issued by the hospital, the patient's health condition has improved significantly after the successful surgery and she was discharged from the hospital today. "The successful completion of such a complex and modern surgery in Nepal is seen as a further achievement in the medical field," the statement said.
