Video X-ray Service Closed at Cancer Hospital

Jan 09, Kathmandu - The video X-ray service at Sushil Koirala Prakhar Cancer Hospital in Khajura, Banke, has been completely shut down for about 20 days due to the lack of a radiologist. The service has been affected after the initial testing service, which is considered essential in the cancer treatment process, was shut down.

The hospital administration has stated that the video X-ray service has not been able to operate due to the lack of another radiologist since the hospital's radiologist Dr. Thakur Koirala resigned about 10 days ago.

The hospital's executive director, Dr. Jwalant Poudel, said that due to the lack of new doctors, they were forced to bring them in from outside. "We have not been able to do video X-rays due to the lack of posts," he said. Stating that video X-rays are essential for identifying cancer, making treatment plans, and assessing the progress of treatment, Poudel said that the service was affected due to the sudden resignation of the radiologist and the lack of an immediate replacement.

Earlier, the hospital had been operating a video X-ray service on a part-time basis for a long time. After Dr. Thakur Koirala came to the hospital about a year ago, the service was fully operational. 15 to 20 patients were being video X-rayed daily.
