Land encroachment dispute in Dhanusha: 8 injured in clash, 7 cells fire tear gas

Jan 10, Kathmandu - A clash has broken out in front of Sant Rampal Ashram in Sukjor, Mithila Municipality-2, Dhanusha. The clash took place between followers of Indian religious guru Sant Rampal and locals over the issue of encroachment on public land.

Police fired seven tear gas shells to control the situation, said Police Inspector Rajaram Yadav of the Area Police Office Sakhuwa Mahendranagar.

According to him, eight locals have been injured so far during the clash.

Locals have blocked the Janakpur-Dhalke road in the process. Locals have also vandalized an ambulance at the Aurahi bridge in Sakhuwa Mahendranagar.

Police Inspector Yadav says that the situation is now normalizing.
