Jan 10, Kathmandu - UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli has opposed the US intervention in Venezuela, the arrest of the president there, and the case being prosecuted in the US, saying it is against international law and the UN Charter.
He said such actions have seriously undermined the principles of sovereignty, non-interference, and international justice.
He made this observation while addressing a meeting of the UML Central Committee. Making public his views on the global situation, Oli mentioned that global politics has become more fluid, risky and unpredictable in recent times.
He concluded that the weakening of the rules-based international system, the erosion of multilateralism and the ineffectiveness of the role of the United Nations are matters of concern.
According to Oli, due to unhealthy competition between powerful nations, incidents such as decisions being made about the territory of a sovereign nation in its absence, direct death threats against leaders, kidnappings, terrorist attacks, and the massacre of thousands of innocent civilians, women, and children in the name of it are on the rise.
Oli believes that the strategic use of artificial intelligence and information technology, as well as the climate crisis, are also creating a new kind of insecurity.
