Jan 13, Kathmandu - The nominations for the new leadership of the Nepali Congress will be filed from 2 pm on Tuesday.
The election committee, led by senior advocate Sitaram KC, has announced the schedule and has set the deadline for nominations until 3 pm.
According to the election committee, the list of candidates will be published at 4:30 pm. The time for objections to candidacies has been set from 4:30 to 5 pm.
Similarly, the investigation of objections to candidacies has been set from 5 pm to 5:30 pm, and the withdrawal of nominations from 5:30 to 7:30 pm.
According to the election committee, the final list of candidates will be published at 8:45 pm, and voting will begin at 9 pm. The time for voting has been set until 1 am.
The counting of votes will be done immediately after the counting is completed and the results will be announced immediately after the counting, according to the election committee coordinator KC.
After efforts to reach a consensus failed, the special general convention has moved forward towards selecting a new leadership.
More than 51 percent of the general convention delegates are participating in the special general convention called by General Secretaries Gagan Thapa and Bishwaprakash Sharma.
Constitutional experts have been saying that more than 51 percent of the delegates can change the leadership.
Slogans are being raised outside the general convention venue, saying that the election of a new leadership has been abandoned and negotiations for consensus have been held.
