Truck accident in Sunsari: Five died, three injured

Jan 15, Kathmandu - Five people died in a truck accident at Bhokrah Nasingh in Sunsari.

Three people were injured in the accident that took place this morning when the truck No. 1K 4541 carrying marble from Biratnagar overturned on the postal highway under Sunsari Bhokraha Rural Municipality.

According to Sunsari district police office, there were five people from the same settlement of Sunsari Barju Ward No. 1 who died. According to Superintendent of Police Chandra Khadka, 32-year-old Birendra Gurung of Barju-1, 55-year-old Bahmdev Gurung of the same place, 50-year-old Tek Bahadur Gurung, 28-year-old Nisu Gurung and 55-year-old Chandra Bahadur Gurung died.

In the truck, there were four people in the front cabin, including the driver, and five people in the back. All the five people who were sitting behind it were crushed to death by the marble.

The three injured people sitting in the cabin are being treated at Biratnagar Na Singh Home. It is said that the driver is absconding.
