Jan 16, Kathmandu - The 47th edition of the prestigious football tournament of Sankhuwasabha, the Hangthum Cup, is set to begin on Magh 5.
The tournament, organized by Hangthum Club, will feature the participation of 8 teams from Nepal and India.
The participating teams include Indreni of Taplejung, Koshi Province Police, DYC Dhankuta, Likhubhuji Taplejung, Indreni Club Sunsari, Myanglung Sporting Tehrathum, Dudhe Football Club Darjeeling of India, and the host, Hangthum Club.
The winner of the tournament will receive Rs 242,000 in cash and the runner-up will receive Rs 121,000. The final match will be held on Magh 10, according to the organizer.
Hangthum Club President Asim Jimi said that the Hangthum Cup, which has been contributing to the development of competitive football by highlighting local talent, is expected to be interesting for the audience this year as well. All the matches of the tournament will be held at Mulkharka, Madi Municipality-3.
