Jan 16, Kathmandu - Sujan Subedi, who went to Russia for studies on a student visa, has been entangled in the Ukraine conflict. In October 2022, he travelled from Dhunseri, Khairahani Municipality-3, Chitwan, to Russia for education. However, during his stay, he joined the Russian military and was subsequently sent to Ukraine to fight in the war.

Although he returned from Ukraine after his first deployment, he was detained by Ukrainian forces during his second deployment. Nearly two and a half years ago, his family received a video message from him, which was facilitated by Ukrainian journalists. In the message, he requested help, specifically mentioning Renu Dahal, the Mayor of Bharatpur, to rescue him.

His brother, Suman Subedi, said, “We received a video message about two and a half years ago in which Sujan asked Renu Dahal for help. We reached out to her at that time. Since then, three different prime ministers have come and gone in Nepal, but we haven't heard any news from Sujan since last Jestha.”
