Security Arrangements at Election Commission Premises Tightened

Jan 16, Kathmandu - Security arrangements at the Election Commission premises have been tightened. While the Election Commission premises are bustling with activity in preparation for the upcoming elections, the security arrangements have been tightened after the Nepali Congress split and the movement of leaders and activists from both parties for official status has increased.

A large number of police have been deployed at the main gate of the Election Commission, and a 'water cannon' has also been kept ready outside. Leaders of the Sher Bahadur Deuba-led Congress and Gagan Thapa-led Congress had reached the Election Commission today and claimed official status.

A few moments ago, Thapa-led Congress workers were protesting at the Election Commission, while now Deuba-led Congress workers, Tarun Dal President Bidhan Gurung and other leaders and activists have reached the Commission premises to protest.
