Jan 17, Kathmandu - The United Nations and aid agencies in Gaza have urged the lifting of restrictions on school supplies so that more children can access education. The humanitarian agency made this concern public on Friday.
The Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs said it is working with partners to get children back to school and support people affected by the cold weather. According to the office, more than 440 learning spaces are currently operational in Gaza. Ten temporary learning spaces in Gaza have also been repaired this month.
The office has distributed more than 200 tents, thousands of blankets, warm clothing, cooking utensils and solar lights to support families displaced by the cold weather. However, more than one million people in Gaza still need immediate shelter assistance and durable solutions. This includes repairing damaged homes and providing emergency shelter supplies.
