Jan 17, Kathmandu - The office of the Election Officer has been established in all five constituencies of Jhapa for the election of members of the House of Representatives.
Chief District Officer Shivaram Gelal said that the office of the Chief Election Officer was established in the District Coordination Committee, Jhapa, on Friday to oversee the election of Jhapa Constituency No. 3.
The Chief Election Officer for Jhapa district is Umesh Prasad Luintel, Chief Justice of the District Court. The offices of the Election Officers have also been established in four other constituencies of the district on Saturday.
The office of the Election Officer for Constituency No. 1 has been established in the office of Mechinagar Municipality. Gopi Bishwakarma is the Election Officer and Tek Bahadur Shrestha is the Assistant Election Officer in that constituency.
Similarly, the office of the Election Officer for Constituency No. 2 has been established in the office of Arjundhara Municipality. Mahesh Khatri is the Election Officer in this constituency and Shukraraj Bantawa is the Assistant Election Officer.
The office of the Election Officer for Constituency No. 4 of Jhapa is kept in the office of Tursa Hemaram Pratishthan in Kanakarya Municipality-1. The Election Officer of the constituency is Bhim Prasad Bhurtel and the Assistant Election Officer is Kshetranath Sharma.
The office of the Election Officer of Constituency No. 5 has been established in the building of the Organic Agriculture Center in Damak Municipality-8. The Election Officer of this constituency is Bidur Kumar Karki and the Assistant Election Officer is Jeet Bahadur Shrestha.
Chief Election Officer Luintel expressed confidence that the support of all political parties and stakeholders will be received to conduct the election in a fear-free environment. Tulsi Nepal, Chief of the District Election Office, Jhapa, said that there are 285 polling stations and 815 polling stations in Jhapa. According to him, there are 713,537 voters in the district. He said that out of the total voters, 355,183 are women, 358,346 are men and eight others.
