U.S. President Donald Trump Threatens to Impose Taxes on Countries Opposing Greenland Purchase

Jan 17, Kathmandu - US President Donald Trump has threatened to impose a tax on countries that do not support his ambition to annex Greenland.

During a meeting at the White House, Trump said he could impose a tax on other countries if they do not cooperate with him on the Greenland issue. Trump did not make it clear which countries would be subject to the new tax or what authority he would use to achieve his goal.

Greenland has its own government, although it is under Danish control. Denmark and Greenland, as well as other countries, are opposing his plan, and many in the US have expressed doubts about the annexation.

As Trump made the comments, a bipartisan congressional delegation was visiting Greenland to express support for the territory. The delegation met with Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen and Greenland Prime Minister Jens-Frederik Nielsen.
