Jan 18, Kathmandu - Kathmandu Metropolitan City Mayor Balen Shah, who joined the Rashtriya Swatantra Party (RSWP) as a senior leader, is in discussions today whether to resign or not.
He is in a dilemma whether to resign today as there is no mandatory provision for resigning from the local level to run for federal MP, his secretariat source informed.
'It is not necessary to resign today to run for federal MP. He is in discussions because the position will be vacant if the candidate is elected,' a source close to Balen said.
Meanwhile, Balen is going to the RSWP central office 'Ghantighar' on Sunday. Spokesperson Manish Jha said that he is scheduled to be welcomed at the party central office at 2 pm today.
'Party President Ravi Lamichhane and Mayor Balen Shah are arriving in Janakpur by Buddha Air flight at 5 pm today,' Jha said.
