Jan 18, Kathmandu - The Election Code of Conduct, 2082, will come into effect from midnight today for the upcoming election of members of the House of Representatives to be held on Falgun 21.

Assistant Spokesperson Kul Bahadur GC informed that the decision was taken at a meeting of the Election Commission held today.

He said that the Commission has formulated and implemented the code of conduct by exercising the authority granted by Section 22 of the Election Commission Act, 2073 BS as it is necessary to maintain freedom, fairness, impartiality, transparency, economy and a fear-free environment in the election.

Today, the Commission officials are scheduled to inform the members of the Council of Ministers and high-ranking government employees about the code of conduct.
