Jan 18, Kathmandu - Kathmandu Metropolitan City Deputy Mayor Sunita Dangol has been appointed as the acting chief.

She automatically became the acting chief as per the Local Government Operation Act-2074 BS after Mayor Balendra Shah (Balen) resigned from the post.

The act clearly states that if the post of mayor becomes vacant, the deputy mayor will assume the responsibility of the acting chief. Dangol has taken over the leadership of the metropolis as per the same legal provision. Mayor Shah had formally resigned from the post before reaching the central office of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP).
