Jan 19, Kathmandu - The emergency room (beds) at Bir Hospital has been expanded. Hospital Director Dr. Dilip Sharma informed that 25 emergency rooms have been expanded keeping in mind the pressure of patients. Earlier, the hospital was operating with thirty emergency rooms.
“The hospital was forced to treat two patients in one room,” he said, “We have added emergency rooms keeping in mind the treatment of patients. 20 more emergency rooms will be expanded soon.”
Arrangements have also been made to cook food for the patients’ relatives in the emergency room.
According to hospital director Dr. Sharma, the emergency room was built at a cost of Rs 70 million from the Ministry of Health and Population and the hospital’s internal resources.
More than 3,000 patients now come to the hospital for treatment daily.
Similarly, 70 to 80 minor and major surgeries are performed daily in the hospital.
The hospital currently has 850 beds and 110 intensive care units (ICUs).
