Jan 20, Kathmandu - The Government of India has gifted 61 vehicles to the Government of Nepal for the upcoming election of members of the House of Representatives to be held on Falgun 21.
The Indian Embassy handed over 61 cabin pick-up vans to the government during a program at Singha Durbar on Tuesday.
The Ministry of Home Affairs had requested vehicles from the Government of India under in-kind assistance for election purposes through the Ministry of Finance. Under the proposal, India has provided 61 vehicles to the Government of Nepal as a gift in the first phase.
It is said that the Government of India will provide 538 vehicles, both small and large, for this election.
Since the vehicles are in the name of the Government of Nepal, the government will be able to use them according to its needs after the election.
The Government of India has been providing election equipment including vehicles to the Government of Nepal to conduct the election. Since 2008 alone, the Government of India has handed over more than 2,400 vehicles to the Government of Nepal.
