Health Services Provided by Foreign Doctors in Remote Areas

Jan 22, Kathmandu - More than 800 local residents from remote areas have received direct health services from a two-day free health camp organized in Makalu Rural Municipality-5 of the district.

841 people underwent health check-ups in the camp, which was organized with the aim of providing services to the poor, disabled and target groups who are far from access to health services.

A team of 14 specialist doctors from the United States provided services at the camp on the special initiative of Helping Hands founder Narayan Shrestha. The camp, held on Wednesday and Thursday, provided specialist services related to general physician, orthopedics, ear, nose and throat, pediatrics, gynecology and heart disease.

In addition, eye examinations, ECG services, cervical cancer tests, free medicine distribution and reading glasses were provided. The local residents were excited and happy to receive treatment from a foreign specialist doctor in their own village.

While observing the camp, Makalu Rural Municipality Chairman Ongdi Tshiring Sherpa expressed happiness over the free health camp being conducted in a remote area.
