Jan 25, Kathmandu - Two days of trilateral talks between Ukraine, Russia and the United States ended on a positive note on Saturday.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said possible ways to end the war had been discussed, and the next round of talks is scheduled for February 1 in the United Arab Emirates.
The talks were the first between US officials and representatives of both countries.
Zelensky said all sides would report on the progress of the talks in his capital and coordinate future steps.
The talks covered military and economic issues, and a possible ceasefire was also raised. However, a decision has not been made on control of Ukraine's Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant.
The electricity generated by it will be shared proportionally between all sides.
The Ukrainian team was led by Rustam Umerov and Kirill Budanov, while the US team was led by Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner.
The Russian team was led by military intelligence and a military representative.
Zelensky said, “The US role is necessary to monitor the process of ending the war and ensure security. However, some sensitive issues, including territorial disputes, have yet to be resolved.”
As the talks continued, Russia carried out a drone attack in Kiev, killing one person and wounding four.
27 people were injured in Kharkiv.
Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sibiha wrote on Twitter, “Putin may order attacks targeting our people in the midst of the US-led peace process.
