Jan 25, Kathmandu - Perth Scorchers have claimed their sixth title in the 15th edition of the Australian Big Bash League (BBL). The final match was held on Sunday at their home ground, Optus Stadium, where they defeated their familiar rivals, Sydney Sixers, by 6 wickets.
Chasing a target of 133 runs set by Sydney, Perth achieved the victory with 15 balls remaining and 4 wickets in hand. Openers Mitch Marsh scored the highest with 44 runs, while fellow opener Fynn Allen contributed 36. Josh Inglis remained unbeaten on 29.
For Sydney, Sean Abbott took 2 wickets, while Mitchell Starc and Jack Edwards each claimed one wicket.
Earlier, Sydney batted first after losing the toss and scored 132 runs all out in 20 overs. Steve Smith, Josh Philippe, and Moines Henriksen each scored 24 runs, while Joel Davies added 19.
Perth’s bowlers, including Jhye Richardson and David Pen, took 3 wickets each, while Mahlali Birdman and Aaron Hardy took 2 and 1 wickets respectively.
Perth reached the final after defeating Sydney in the qualifier match. The Scorchers have previously won titles in the 3rd, 4th, 6th, 11th, and 12th editions, while Sydney has secured the championship three times.
