Jan 26, Kathmandu - Nepal Rastra Bank Governor Prof. Bishwanath Poudel and Reserve Bank of India (RBI) Governor Sanjay Malhotra met on 20th Magh.
The meeting held at the RBI headquarters in Mumbai discussed various issues of mutual interest and inter-bank electronic payment transactions between Nepal and India.
Nepal Rastra Bank stated that the meeting focused on making arrangements for Nepali citizens to make payments easily through QR codes during their visit to India.
In addition, discussions were held on good policy practices adopted by the RBI in the areas of monetary policy, liquidity management, foreign exchange management, artificial intelligence-based bank supervision, and information technology.
Similarly, discussions were held on emerging and contemporary issues in the financial sector and further strengthening cooperation and exchange of experiences between Nepal and India.
During the meeting, Kiran Pandit, Executive Director of the Foreign Exchange Management Department of Nepal Rastra Bank, Dr. Satyendra Timilsina, Executive Director of the Payment Systems Department, and Dirgha Bahadur Rawal, Executive Director of the Bank Supervision Department, expressed the view that cooperation with the RBI could be possible on issues related to their respective departments.
Meanwhile, during his visit to India, Governor Poudel also met with high-ranking officials of the International Financial Services Centers Authority in Ahmedabad, Gujarat on Magh 6.
The concept of Gujarat International Finance Tech-City, current status, policies adopted for investment promotion, and the possibility of cooperation with Nepal Rastra Bank were discussed during the meeting.
