Jan 26, Kathmandu - Tribhuvan University students have demanded an end to the situation where they have to come to Kathmandu from any corner of the country for examination-related work.
According to the university's Self-Government Union President Deepak Raj Joshi, students are forced to come to Kathmandu for random exams and small tasks as the university has not decentralized the examination system.
"Especially students from remote areas and those with weak physical conditions are suffering the most from this," he said.
President Joshi informed that a sit-in has been started at the entrance of the Office of the Controller of Examinations from today to draw attention to the demand. To resolve this, the students are demanding that arrangements be made to allow them to take exams at least within their own province.
"We have repeatedly asked for the university app to be used, but it has not happened yet. Students are suffering unnecessarily due to the inability of the Office of the Controller of Examinations of TU to become digital in line with the times and the Kathmandu-centric structure," said Self-Government Union member Pradeep Karki. He said that although there has been some improvement compared to before, most of the results are coming late.
Students have demanded free examination centers in every province, restructuring of the examination system, evaluation of dissertations within the province, ensuring timely examinations and timely results, a fully digital system, decentralization of certificate distribution, and strengthening of re-scoring and re-examination.
