Jan 27, Kathmandu - The biggest and most prestigious football tournament of the Sherpa community, Khumbu Lhosar Cup-2026, is set to begin on Magh 24.

Mahendra Jyoti Alumni Forum, Solukhumbu, held a press conference in Kathmandu on Tuesday and announced that the 15th edition of the Lhosar Cup will be held from Magh 24 to Falgun 3 at the ANFA Complex football ground in Satdobato.

A total of 8 teams will participate in the tournament. Mahendra Jyoti, Namche Youth Group, Khumjung Youth Club, Khunde Community Club, Thamichhowa Football Club, Ama Dablam Youth Club and Sherpa Kyiduk will participate, informed Pembachiri Sherpa, General Secretary of Mahendra Jyoti Alumni Forum, Solukhumbu.

The first prize in the tournament is Rs 150,000 in cash.

The organizers have stated that this tournament, which is held annually, has been playing an important role in uniting the communities within Khumbu Pasanglhamu Rural Municipality through football.
