Rupti Health Science Institute to Launch Cancer Treatment Facility in Western Nepal

Feb 01, Kathmandu - In a significant development, the Rupti Health Science Institute has announced the initiation of cancer treatment services at its facility. An agreement was signed on Sunday between the institute and BP Koirala Memorial Cancer Hospital to expand cancer care and facilitate personnel exchange.

The memorandum of understanding was signed by Acting Vice-Chancellor Prof. Shyam Lamsal of the institute and Executive Director Dr. Shivaji Poudel of BP Koirala Cancer Hospital. The agreement aims to enhance cancer treatment services and share necessary expertise and staff.

The signing ceremony was overseen by Acting Dean Prof. Ramesh Kandel of the institute and Co-Director Dr. Umesh Nepal of the cancer hospital.

Until now, residents of western Nepal and the former Rapti Zone faced challenges in accessing affordable cancer treatment, often having to travel to cities like Chitwan and Kathmandu for expensive treatments.

With the implementation of this agreement, local residents will benefit from improved healthcare services, saving both time and money. Acting Vice-Chancellor Prof. Lamsal expressed confidence that expanding cancer treatment in the region will provide much-needed relief and support to those affected by the disease.
