Feb 01, Kathmandu - The upcoming session of the House of Representatives, scheduled after February 3rd, will not be held at the Birendra International Conference Centre in New Baneshwor. Since the 2064 Constituent Assembly elections, the conference centre has been used as the parliamentary building, but the federal parliament will now move to a new dedicated building.
According to the Federal Parliament Secretariat, the new parliament will operate from the newly constructed parliament building located within the Singha Durbar complex. Although the building is not yet fully completed, the Secretariat has assured that it will be ready to host the parliamentary sessions after the election.
Previously, following the Gen-Z movement, the then Federal Parliament was also housed in the conference centre, which was destroyed by fire. Since then, the National Assembly sessions have been conducted at the Singha Durbar premises. The hall of the Agriculture and Natural Resources Committee within the complex has been arranged to serve as the venue for the National Assembly meetings.
