Feb 02, Kathmandu - President Ram Chandra Poudel has urged the Japanese business community to invest in Nepal. Addressing an interactive program with members of the Japanese business community organized in Tokyo, Japan today on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Nepal and Japan, he called for investing and doing business in Nepal with confidence.
He urged to make Nepal rich and Japan to benefit from it by investing in sectors such as agriculture, water resources and tourism. He said, "If you invest in Nepal, you will get wealth! You will also get religion." President Poudel said, "We have created a stable macroeconomic environment with attractive returns on investment as well as easy procedures for profit and capital return. The Nepalese government is committed to providing full support, seamless facilitation and security to foreign investment." President Poudel mentioned that we are inspired by the philosophy of Gautam Buddha and that Nepal and Japan have cultural relations since ancient times. He said, "Gautama Buddha had said - the victory of peace is that in which no one is defeated.
He expressed confidence that the enthusiastic participation of the Japanese business community would be fruitful in establishing rapid trade and investment ties between Nepal and Japan. He said that Nepal's efforts are focused on achieving social justice, good governance and prosperity of the people along with political stability.
He expressed the view that in today's times, no country can prosper without the government and the private sector working together internally and without advancing partnerships with other countries externally.
Following liberal economic policies, Nepal has opened almost every sector, including manufacturing, hydropower, tourism, services, information technology, mining and agro-based industries, to foreign investment and has made extensive legal, procedural and institutional reforms to facilitate trade, attract foreign investment and promote innovation.
“The Nepal Investment Board provides a one-stop service to large investors, and the International Monetary Fund, the World Bank and major international rating agencies have confirmed through independent assessments that Nepal offers one of the most favorable business environments in South Asia,” President Poudel said.
