Feb 02, Kathmandu - A total of 109 people, including 65 men and 53 women, underwent eye surgery in the free eye camp organized in Rolpa.
The camp was organized by Nepal Eye Program, Tilganga Eye Institute, Tilganga Surgical Community Eye Center Liwang in Rolpa, Nepal Red Cross Society Rolpa, and with the financial support of The Fred Hallows Foundation Australia and in coordination with various local bodies.
109 patients suffering from eye problems from all over the district came to the 2-day cataract surgery camp organized in Liwang. According to Khadga Bhat, in-charge of Tilganga Surgical Community Eye Center in Liwang, the camp was conducted in a new building.
Bhat said that all the cataract patients underwent successful surgery. A technical team including Dr. Dipti Pradhan, a senior ophthalmologist from Tilganga Eye Institute, was deployed in the free surgery camp.
The organization has been conducting free camps every year. Patient selection camps were conducted at all levels in coordination with 10 local levels of Rolpa. Tilganga Surgical Community Eye Center, Rolpa, established 15 years ago, has been conducting a campaign to reduce blindness caused by cataracts.
