Feb 03, Kathmandu - There were two matches in the ongoing SAFF U-19 Women's Championship in Pokhara on Monday. The first match was between India and Bangladesh, while the second match was between Nepal and Bhutan. Bangladesh defeated India 2-0. With the win, Bangladesh has almost secured a trip to the final.
India's defeat became a big opportunity for Nepal. Nepal was expected to get a good result against Bhutan, which was the weakest team in the ongoing tournament with high morale. Taking a 1-0 lead in the first half, Nepal was expected to show a further improvement in the second half. However, Nepal's very weak performance has made the chances of reaching the final very slim.
Although Nepal dominated Bhutan from the beginning of the match, it failed to score repeatedly. Barsha Oli could not make the most of the opportunities he got several times. Overall, the match between Nepal and Bhutan ended in a 2-1 goal. Nepal, taking an initial 2-0 lead, had to struggle to maintain its lead.
