Feb 05, Kathmandu - Resham Lal Chaudhary, a senior figure and protector of the Nagarik Unmukti Party Nepal, has refiled a petition challenging the cancellation of his candidacy. The Supreme Court has scheduled a hearing before a joint bench of Justices Nahakul Subedi and Abdul Aziz Muslim to examine the case.
The petition against the cancellation of his candidacy has been prioritized for hearing. Previously, on Magh 11, Justice Bal Krishna Dhakal’s single bench ordered the Election Commission to submit a written response to Chaudhary’s petition and called both parties to discuss an interim order.
On Magh 15, the joint bench of Justices Dhakal and Nrip Dhwaj Niraula directed the case related to a culpable homicide verdict to be submitted as per the pre-judgment order. After completing the required procedures and obtaining the case file, today’s hearing was scheduled for an interim relief.
Despite his efforts, the Election Commission rejected Chaudhary’s nomination papers for the upcoming House of Representatives election scheduled for Fagun 21, representing Kailali-1.
