Feb 05, Kathmandu - 950 girls in the district are to be vaccinated against cervical cancer with the Human Papilloma Virus (HPV). The campaign is to be conducted for girls studying in grade 6 of 127 schools in 61 wards of the district and girls aged 10 who are not going to school.
Badriraj Acharya, Chief of the Provincial Public Health Office, Parbat, urged the girls to get vaccinated without any hesitation as the vaccination campaign will be conducted from Magh 12 to 13. According to him, vaccination centers will be established in the respective schools for girls studying in private and community schools in the district and they will be vaccinated.
He informed that during this period, girls studying in grades 7 to 10 who were exempted from vaccination last year and girls aged 11 to 14 who are not going to school will also be vaccinated. It is said that the vaccination campaign will be conducted in the district in one phase. 127 health workers and 127 volunteers will be mobilized for the campaign, informed the Office Chief Acharya.
Chief District Officer Laxmi Prasad Poudel said that everyone's support and coordination is needed to make the HPV vaccination campaign, which is related to women's physical and reproductive health, a success.
Stating that everyone should be aware and vigilant about a deadly disease like cervical cancer, he said that no one should miss out on getting vaccinated. He informed that those who missed out on the campaign will be included in the campaign after being given an additional week.
District Vaccination Coordination Committee Coordinator Bishnu Ram BK said that publicity has been intensified to avoid any problems in the context of conducting the vaccination campaign. He urged everyone not to form a negative opinion about it as the vaccine is completely safe.
Along with this, preparations are being made to conduct the vaccination campaign in all seven municipalities and ward levels of the district, according to the Provincial Public Health Office, Parbat. Last year, 4,749 people were vaccinated against HPV in the district.
