New Fashion and Interior Design College Opens in Kathmandu, Offering Practical Courses for Youth

Feb 05, Kathmandu - Kathmandu’s Koteshwor witnesses the inauguration of a new fashion and interior design college. The ‘Valentino International College of Fashion and Interior,’ established by a team led by experienced fashion designer Sukhnita Chaulagai, aims to provide accessible professional knowledge and skills to aspiring young designers.

Sukhnita Chaulagai, who has nearly a decade of experience in fashion design, shared that the college was launched to address the lack of practical fashion and interior design education in Nepal. The college offers a one-year diploma course designed to help students pursue careers without disrupting their academic pursuits.

“Our one-year course will help youth realize their dreams while maintaining their current studies,” Chaulagai stated. “Fashion is my dream project, and I want to make it accessible for everyone.”

The college offers specialized courses in fashion design, boutique management, draping and stitching, styling, and more. Experienced teachers and designers will conduct both theoretical and practical classes to ensure comprehensive learning.

Students enrolling in this program can pursue careers as fashion designers, boutique owners, stylists, or pattern makers, Chaulagai explained. She also highlighted the growing fashion sense among Nepali youth, noting that not only celebrities and artists but also politicians and everyday people now aspire to look stylish and smart.

Chaulagai, who has been running ‘Valentino the Boutique’ in Koteshwor for the past eight years, shared that her designs have gained popularity in ramp shows, Nepali films, and music videos.
