Distribution of Matresses to 526 Senior Citizens of Marsyangdi

Feb 07, Kathmandu - In a dedicated effort to support its aging population, Marsyangdi Rural Municipality has distributed warm mattresses to over 500 senior citizens across all nine wards under its Senior Citizen Honor Program.

The initiative, aimed at providing comfort and social security, reached 526 residents who have crossed the age of 80.

The program was executed under the approved annual budget for the fiscal year 2082/083, with the local government allocating Rs. 500,000 for this specific cause. The distribution was carried out by branch officials in the presence of ward representatives, following a formal recommendation process from each respective ward.

Marsyangdi Rural Municipality Chairman, Arjun Gurung, emphasized that the program is more than just a donation; it is a gesture of protection and social harmony.

"Senior citizens are the storehouses of experience and knowledge in our society," Chairman Gurung stated. "The Rural Municipality will continue to prioritize programs that ensure their health, safety, and dignity."

This is not the first time the local government has stepped up for its elderly. In previous years, the municipality distributed warm quilts and flashlights. Beyond physical goods, the local government also provides, free health check-up services for the elderly and Ongoing social security initiatives aimed at improving the overall quality of life for seniors.
