Deadly Israeli-Palestinian Conflict Claims Over 72,000 Lives, Thousands Injured Amid Ongoing Violence

Feb 16, Kathmandu - The ongoing conflict between Israel and Palestine has resulted in a staggering death toll of over 72,000 people, with more than 171,700 injured since the escalation began. According to Gaza health officials, since the ceasefire was implemented, 601 Palestinian civilians have lost their lives, and 1,607 have been wounded.

On Sunday alone, Israeli airstrikes across various locations in Gaza Strip claimed the lives of 11 individuals. Civilian defense agencies reported that these attacks targeted refugee camps and displacement shelters in northern and southern Gaza. Initially reported casualties were nine, but later figures were revised.

Mahmoud Basil, spokesperson for the Civilian Defense, stated that Israeli fighter jets and drones launched attacks from morning until noon across multiple areas. In one drone attack west of Gaza City in Al-Hawa, Sami al-Dahdouh, a member of the Islamic Jihad group, was killed.

In another attack in Beit Lahiya in northern Gaza, three people were seriously injured. Previously, two separate assaults in Jabalya refugee camp and Khan Yunis resulted in 10 deaths. Witnesses reported that Israeli forces also targeted and demolished homes in the Sheikh Zayed area north of Jabalia. Additionally, artillery shelling has been reported in the eastern part of Gaza, particularly in Al-Tufah.

The violence continues to devastate the region, with international calls for de-escalation growing louder amid the mounting civilian casualties.
