Electoral Fever Rises in Jhapa's Constituency No. 5 as Leaders Launch Door-to-Door Campaigns

Feb 16, Kathmandu - Jhapa's Constituency No. 5 is buzzing with heightened election enthusiasm. Senior leaders of CPN (UML) and Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) have kicked off intensive door-to-door campaigns right in Damak.

Since early Monday morning, UML Chairman and former Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, along with RSP senior leader Balendra Shah, have been actively engaging with voters across the town. Oli visited major markets and inner neighborhoods of Damak, while Shah reached out to squatters and rural villages. This marks the start of simultaneous door-to-door campaigns within the same municipality.

According to Indra Bhandari, coordinator of the Election Campaign Committee, more than ten locations have been designated for Oli's meetings with voters, listening to their concerns, and campaigning accordingly.

RSP leader Bheshraj Bhattarai mentioned that Shah has been visiting households since the morning, gathering feedback from constituents. Local residents have raised issues such as land registration and other community problems during these visits.

Other prominent candidates, including Nepali Congress leader Mandhara Poudyal, UML candidate Ranjit Tamang, and RPP's Laxmi Sangraula, are also conducting their campaigns through door-to-door outreach. However, the focus on Oli and Shah’s campaigns has overshadowed their efforts, making them the center of attention in the election scene.
