Feb 16, Kathmandu - CPN-UML Secretary Yamalal Kandel has said that there should be a competition between UML and Congress in the upcoming House of Representatives elections to get the country out of the current crisis.
Addressing an election corner meeting organized by UML Surkhet in Birendranagar-12 on Monday, he claimed that the country cannot move forward without established parties like UML and Congress. ‘We are not just asking for votes, we will not let the people lose their trust,’ he said, ‘The elections scheduled for 2084 are going to be held on Falgun 21, so this election is of special importance.’
Kandel accused those who are burning Singha Durbar and major heritages of the country and are involved in cooperative fraud of trying to mislead the people by wearing the mask of new ones. He said that the citizens are being confused by spreading negative messages like there is nothing going on in the country through social media.
He claimed that the Congress, which is in a battle for legitimacy, cannot provide a way out for the country alone, but said that the competition between UML and Congress is necessary for the country even though they stand on different political lines.
Similarly, he also expressed his lack of trust in the coordinator of the Nepali Communist Party (NCP), Prachanda. “Those who incited to burn yesterday are now using the language of those who will burn and build the country,” he said. Kandel said that the upcoming election is not limited to the voting process but is also an opportunity to save the country from geopolitical challenges.
Stating that only discussing negativity has increased discontent among the citizens, he directed the leaders and cadres to focus on development and stability issues. Accusing the group that came in the name of new power, he urged the voters not to be misled.
